The Danakil Depression is the result of a tectonic triple junction where the stretching rim which forms the Gulf of Aden and the Red sea emerge to one land to meet at the East African Rift.

Dallol and Eta-ale with its salt lakes are the main tourist attractions of the Danakil depression.

Dallol, the lowest place within the Danakil depression is hot all year round with an average temperature of 35 degree Celsius. The beauty of Dallol lies in its unique landscapes covered with many colors making it entirely different from other landscapes which we normally see!  These beautiful colors are the result of the volcanic nature of the area. The heat within the hot springs pushes upwards and discharge colored minerals which give this unique color to the surrounding landscape.

Erta Ale is one of the planets miracles were you can see an active volcano, molten lava. Eta-ale means Smoking Mountain according to the language of the local Ethiopian Afar people.
